Sri Lanka announce squad for T20 World Cup 2022: Sri Lanka has named a 15-member squad for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Dushmantha Chamira and Lahiru Kumara included in their initial lineup. The pair will likely go on to travel down under should they prove fit enough before the tournament.
Sri Lanka is in Group A of the ICC World Twenty20 with Namibia, United Arab Emirates and Netherlands. They start their tournament on Sunday, October 16th, at GMHBA Stadium South Geelong Victoria, against Namibia.
“Ashen Bandara and Praveen Jayawickrema will travel with the team,” the Sri Lankan Cricket said in a release.
“The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee selected the following squad to take part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The Honorable Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Roshan Ranasinghe, gave his approval for the squad,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in an official media release on Friday, September 16.

On October 16, Sri Lanka will take Namibia in their first competitive game. They face UAE next on October 18, followed by a match against the Netherlands at Simonds Stadium Geelong, Australia, on October 18.
