Pakistan Squad for Asia Cup 2022, Hasan Ali Dropped. The Pakistan National Cricket Team has announced a 16-player squad for the Asia cup 2022 and against the Netherlands from August 16th to 21st, as well as 15 members that will compete in the ACC T20 Asia Cup, which takes place on the 27th of the same month until September 11th, 2022.
The fast bowlers are back in action for Pakistan while the return of two senior players has boosted them. Naseem Shah will replace Hasan Ali, who did not make this tour due to injury; Salman Agha had toured England earlier last year during some ODIs against England, where he played poorly but still managed five wickets at 29 runs each game, so his form may give hope that things might turn around soon enough.
Shaheen Shah Afridi will return to international cricket with Pakistan after being retained in both the ODI and T20I squads. He has been placed under the supervision of a team trainer/physiotherapist, who’ll help determine when he can next play for Pakistan again and what type of preparation is needed before then- whether it be limited overs formats or Test matches only remains unclear at this time. Still, we’re excited about seeing him come back strong!

Chief selector Muhammad Wasim:
“We’ve made changes that were necessary, both competitions are important for us so we have picked our best available players in consultation with the captain and head coach.”
“Hasan has been given a break from international cricket and he has been replaced by Naseem Shah. He is express fast and can give further impetus to the fast bowling department, which already boasts Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shahnawaz Dahani. Naseem has not played any international white-ball cricket, but he has demonstrated with the red-ball that he is an attacking option with good pace and controlled swing.
“Salman Ali Agha has been recalled to the ODI side after he performed well in the past two Pakistan Cup tournaments, averaging 40.33 and 48.8, respectively. He also gives Babar Azam an additional bowling option.”

The Pakistan men’s team is set to open their Asia Cup campaign on August 28 against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Before that, they’ll play three rescheduled ODIs with The Netherlands before ramping up again in Group A, where losing would be an option since all six matches will take place within a single venue – starting later this month!
